Windsong Ranch is a family-owned business which began in 2004. Gord and Heather Sturm have been involved with horses most of their lives and are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise with everyone who comes to their beautiful 100-acre property which includes a modern 22-stall barn, both indoor and outdoor arenas, and extensive trails through fields and woods.
Trail Rides
At Windsong Ranch, our trails are a beautiful mix of hardwood and softwood forests, rolling hills, streams and fields with stunning views of the Queens Valley which runs from Chatsworth to Meaford. A couple hundred acres to explore! With a maximum of 5 riders per ride, you will truly enjoy this memorable experience!
No Experience Necessary!
We welcome horse enthusiasts of all ages to come and experience the Windsong Way of Western Riding! It’s all about the connection with a 4-legged partner. Gord and Heather teach the subtleties of Western Horsemanship that can actually benefit any relationship – animal or human! Setting the bar in the industry, Windsong owners select the appropriate mount for the personality and experience of each rider. During a brief orientation in our indoor arena, we will give you the necessary training before heading out on a guided trail ride. Children and adults alike will feel comfortable and confident with our well-trained, experienced and happy horses!
Excellent spot to go for horse back riding. The staff did a great job teaching us about horses and how to ride. Riding the horses through the river and woods was amazing and would definitely recommend this place to everyone!
My boyfriend (1st time rider) and I went on a private trail ride with Gord & couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Gord and Heather are so kind and helpful & the horses were amazingly well behaved. They make sure you feel comfortable on the horse & the trails and views are beautiful. Would 100% recommend this for beginners or experienced riders!
My friend and I came for our second trail ride (along with her husband). As before it was amazing. Heather and Gordy are fantastic at what they do and really care about making sure everyone has a wonderful ride. Their patient but firm teaching sets you up for your time out on the trails… hoping to make this a summer tradition!!

Windsong Ranch offers the best trail-ride format ever. You spend time getting to know your horse on the ground and ride in an arena over pretend trail obstacles (like a bridge) before you head out on the trail… I was blessed with a great day, a nice group of riders, and a sweet horse.
We were looking for a nice trail, ride out in the country with a variety of scenery and found this place was perfect. We would highly recommend it to those looking to learn about horses and the best way to interact with them… What we thought was going to be a short trail ride turned out to be a 2 1/2 hour memorable experience.

Fun Rides
Year round, we offer weekly mentored horse time with a focus on trail and equine connection that is all about fun! Come and ride Windsong’s well-trained, well-handled proven horses and see what “group riding” is all about. Several moderate-sized groups (4 to 6 riders) ranging from low-impact, beginner, intermediate and advanced skills allow riders to have great weekly social experiences with like-minded horse enthusiasts.
Training
We offer private lessons to help support you and provide you with a better understanding of working with you and your horse partner. We offer training in our indoor arena as well as on-site training at your facility. We offer training for Recreational Trail Riding, Training to Drive and Horse Training.
Lessons
Lessons are available for Horse Handling, Care, Western Riding, Driving Horses, Training and more! Our unique perspective on Western Horsemanship shines during lessons. More than just the mechanics of Western riding, proper communication between rider and horse is the focal point of the Windsong Way. Both private and group lessons are available.
Boarding
Windsong Ranch is a stunningly beautiful 100-acre property which includes a modern 22-stall horse barn, indoor and outdoor arenas, fenced paddocks with shelters, and extensive trails through fields and woods. With Gord and Heather’s wide-ranging equine knowledge, your horse is in a caring environment! We also offer a Part Board opportunity to “go back” to riding or horse handling without the responsibility and financial commitment of complete ownership.
