Training for Recreational Trail Riding
At Windsong Ranch, we specialize in training for recreational trail riding. Creating a bond that builds trust and leadership requires both horse and rider to participate together.
Over fifteen years of offering professional trail riding has shown Windsong owners Heather and Gord what really matters on the trail. Training packages include lessons so that each rider knows how to help their 4-legged partner through new and/or difficult situations while maintaining a healthy relationship.
The unique terrain at Windsong Ranch allows horses to be exposed to a broad range of circumstances found on trails such as open fields and bush, hills, water crossings, walking on roadways as well as encountering wildlife and machinery, not to mention other interesting and creative experiences devised by trainers Gord and Heather!

Training To Drive
Using the Windsong Way, professional Teamster Gord Sturm has a reputation for training horses to become extremely well-behaved driving horses. Windsong’s own horses have been in television series and numerous parades, and have pulled Santa’s sleigh inside malls and even inside Toronto’s Royal York Hotel!
Using a gentle approach, horses are taught to drive starting with the most basic concepts and advancing on a paced schedule that maintains their trust and confidence. Driver/owner lessons are also part of Windsong’s program to ensure continued success with the horse’s newly acquired driving skills.

Horse Training
If you are trying to train your horse and would like assistance and/or guidance, we would be happy to discuss your goals. We offer private lessons to help support you and provide you with a better understanding of working with your horse partner. We offer training in our indoor arena as well as on-site training at your facility.
